With the enacting of the new cosmetic pesticide bylaw in the Corporation of Delta, the Canadian Cancer Society and the Delta Pesticide-Free Working Group are inviting residents to learn more about how cosmetic pesticides affect our health and the environment at a community dialogue and film screening on Tuesday, April 12th at 7pm at Burnsview Secondary School.

The Burns Bog Conservation Society launched a legal action in November to stop construction of the South Fraser Freeway from causing irreparable damage to critical habitat in the Fraser wetlands. Despite the lawsuit, preparation for the controversial truck route is proceeding and presently includes clear cutting in the vicinity of Surrey Bend's unique eco-system, along the South Fraser Witness Trail.
